On our last trip to Tokyo, Japan we ventured out to Japan’s Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo for a quick dose of inspiration. To our surprise there was an exhibition featuring the father of DIY video art and film director, Michel Gondry, that was setup like an in–home production set for his various movies showcasing his clever tricks to film an array of scenes. We can respect Gondry’s belief that anyone can produce an idea without an enormous budget and special technology.
Another very impressionable and memorable exhibition was the ambient sound installation, Trace React by Dumb Type. A white room was equipped with specialized speakers that rotated and projected ambient noise throughout, thus transporting the listeners through abstract environments.
