On a recent trip to New York City, we took a day to visit a few of our favorite galleries see the most recent exhibitions. Two stand out artists that we came across included Davide Balliano, [Tina Kim Gallery] and Yun Hyong-Keun [David Zwirner Gallery].
Balliano’s use of patterns through the manipulation of simplistic lines and shapes was one of the first things that caught our attention. In addition, his stark use of color and a seemingly aging process produced a bold result; bringing a certain feeling of movement and life to each piece.
The monochromatic large scale exhibition of Yun Hyong-Keun work paid tribute to the Dansaekhwa Movement.
The scale and proportions of his pieces were incredible. Looking closer at each panting you begin to comprehend the amount of understated detailing executed in the process of each expression.
